Oh. Great. A Second Wind. How...Nice.

March 4th, 2008 (09:54 pm)

CNN just projected Hillary Clinton the winner of the Texas primary, adding to her wins in Ohio and Rhode Island. I guess it pays to swing to the right on national security issues. Thanks for validating fear tactics, Democrats!

Speaking of which, Matt Bors does a hilarious job with the "red phone" thing.

One line that will come to haunt Clinton should she get the nomination:

"I think that I have a lifetime of experience that I will bring to the White House. I know Senator McCain has a lifetime of experience to the White House. And Senator Obama has a speech he gave in 2002."
So in a toss-up between McCain and Clinton, who will independents go for?

This Independent is going for a case of mid-range bourbon and a trainload of aspirin. Let me know if I can pick anything up for you as well. :/

No, see, you're "independent" - not "Independent." You're female, Jewish and don't own a gun. Capital-I Independents are looking for a protective patriarch to keep the homestead safe from the Bear in the woods. Or some such bullshit.

While you're out, get me a hammer for my skull.

That's just what I WANT you to think.

nice play for the racist vote, too

I wonder if Bean and Kim would agree that the Clinton ad with the blackened and broadened Obama was a little bit stronger of a racist ploy than "the claws come out" was a misogynist ploy (not saying it wasn't)?

Apparently (I haven't checked for myself), Clinton did really well with the 20% of Ohio voters for whom race mattered a lot...

I first noticed this in the Minnesota primary, where Clinton did very well among those for who admitted that sex mattered, and very well among those who admitted that race mattered (a smaller number in Minnesota than in Ohio), from which I infer that people are a lot more comfortable admitting that they voted against the black guy for being black than that they voted against the woman for being a woman.

It's a good thing that I don't post on Alas or the other feminist blogs any more. I'd get in big trouble for just shrugging and expressing a fond hope that Clinton II and Obama just fucking kill each other, and that I don't care if they're racist and/or sexist because that's just the sauce on the garbage sundae anyway. :/

Re: nice play for the racist vote, too

While there was some discussion of which one we all liked better, there was also agreement that neither of them match up with any of our politics anyway.
