Not a Bad Day, All Told
Setting down her fork and talking with a mouth full of Thai food, Katie observed at dinner last night, "Today was the best day of my life."
She's not one for understatement, but it was indeed a pretty good day for all concerned. Katie scored two runs to help win her softball game yesterday morning. I took her to Cosmic Monkey for Free Comic Book Day, where she scored some free comics, a couple titles bought with daddy's moolah, and an original drawing of Wonder Woman by Matt Wagner. Plus she got to see Steve Lieber (whom she adores) again, as well as Jeff Parker and
colleencoover. Then an afternoon at her friend's house and, back home, a dinner of excellent Thai food.
Owen and I went to the park (see the userpic), where he climbed, slid, teeter-tottered and threw rocks. Wisely keeping him home during Katie's game (he's a bad spectator), we played with playdough. He commissioned daddy to mould various dinosaurs: a brontosaurus, a camptosaurus, two t-rexes, and a stegosaurus. We made a cowboy hat for one of the t-rexes and sang, "Home on the Range." And then we fed them playdough hot dogs and cheeseburgers before riding them around on trains.
Jenn went to the ball game, took a nap, and finished knitting herself a pair of socks.
